Purpose: This study was done to provide basic data for the development of a systematic educational programs for pediatric pneumonia patients,
Methods: The participants in this study were 80 mothers whose children were diagnosed with pneumonia and being treated at 2 hospitals in Pusan, Data were collected from August 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008,
Results: Among the educational demands of mothers, the item of prevents of pneumonia after discharge was ranked as the highest one. Among the degree of nurses` educational performances perceived by mothers, the item of Methods & effects of nebulizer was ranked as the highest one. the educational demands of mothers were very high, but the degree of nurses` educational performances perceived by mothers was relatively low, The educational demands of mothers were significantly different in accordance with general characteristics of her, especially the education level, income and information source,
Conclusion: The above result can be used as an important guide for nurses to assess the mother`s educational demands in the pediatric pneumonia patients care setting.
